Jovie Goat vs Kendamil Goat:

Organic Goat Milk Formula Comparison 2026

By: Suzanne Renee' - May 22, 2026 - 15 Minute Read

Jovie Goat vs Kendamil Goat: Organic Goat Milk Formula Comparison 2026 | The Milky Box

Two of the most-searched goat milk formulas among US families are Jovie and Kendamil Goat. Both use full-cream A2 goat milk as the primary ingredient, both skip palm oil, both come in 800g cans, and both have built strong reputations with parents who want something gentler than conventional cow milk formula.

But these formulas are not the same — and the differences become very clear once you read past the marketing. The biggest one is something parents often miss: Jovie is EU certified organic. Kendamil Goat is non-GMO but not organic. Beyond that, the formulas differ on oil profiles, DHA sources, certifications, and the philosophy each brand brings to building infant nutrition.

This guide breaks it all down so you can choose with confidence. As always, consult your pediatrician before starting or switching any formula.

Summer Vibes: Jovie Goat vs. Kendamil Goat The True Milky Magic Tale Begins | The Milky Box

Quick Summary

Jovie Goat vs. Kendamil Goat Similarities | The Milky Box

Both Jovie and Kendamil Goat are premium goat milk formulas built on full-cream A2 goat milk, with lactose as the primary carbohydrate, no palm oil, and no corn syrup. The differences come down to certifications, oil composition, and DHA sourcing.

Jovie Goat vs.Kendamil Goat Differences - Jovie | The Milky Box

Jovie Goat uses full-fat organic goat milk as the number one ingredient. This minimal-processing approach means no palm oil, no coconut oil, and no maltodextrin. The carbohydrate is lactose only. The formula adds GOS prebiotics (no probiotic) and includes both DHA and AA from fish oil. Comes in 800g cans.

Jovie Goat vs. Kendamil Goat Differences - Kendamil | The Milky Box

Kendamil Goat is non-GMO and vegetarian certified, but does not carry EU organic certification. Its oil blend includes coconut oil alongside sunflower and rapeseed. DHA is sourced from microalgae (algal, plant-based — no fish), and ARA from Mortierella alpina oil. GOS prebiotics included.

The trade-off in one line: Jovie offers stronger certifications and a cleaner oil profile. Kendamil offers fully plant-based DHA, vegetarian-friendly formulation, and 60+ years of British brand heritage.

Jovie Goat vs. Kendamil Goat Brand Origin

Jovie Goat vs. Kendamil Goat Brand Origin | The Milky Box

Jovie is part of Unica Global, a Dutch group focused entirely on goat milk infant nutrition. Founded in 2017 by a team with deep experience in the European goat milk formula industry, Jovie was designed from the ground up around full-fat organic goat milk, with no palm oil, no coconut oil, and no maltodextrin. Production happens in specialized, certified facilities in the Netherlands and Austria. Browse Jovie's full lineup in our Jovie formula collection.

Kendamil Goat is a British family-owned company founded in 1962 — over 60 years of heritage in infant nutrition. Kendamil sources its goat milk from Red Tractor-certified farms in the Lake District World Heritage Site, and the brand is known for producing the only major UK-made infant formulas. Kendamil has won multiple awards, including the prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise. Browse the full lineup in our Kendamil formula collection.

Both brands have built strong reputations. The difference shows up in how they approach certification and ingredient sourcing — which we will dig into next.

Certifications: The Biggest Difference

Certifications | The Milky Boax

This is where Jovie and Kendamil Goat diverge most clearly.

Jovie Carries

  • EU organic certification (NL-BIO-01), minimum 98% organic ingredients)

  • Halal certification

  • Kosher certification

  • Glyphosate Residue Free certification- independently verified

  • FSSC 22000 food safety management certification

[Note: Halal and kosher certification can vary by production batch and facility. We recommend contacting our customer support team at hello@themilkybox.com to confirm that the current batch in stock carries the certification your family requires.]

Kendamil Goat Carries

  • Non GMO certification

  • Vegetarian Society Approval — no animal-derived ingredients besides goat milk (no fish oil, no animal rennet)

  • Red Tractor certified farms — UK farming standards

Important note: Kendamil offers separate ORGANIC product ranges (Kendamil Organic and Kendamil Bio Nature), but these are made with cow milk. The Kendamil Goat range is not EU organic certified. This means the goat milk and other ingredients do not meet the strict EU organic standards Jovie's formula does — no requirement that ingredients come from farms free of synthetic pesticides or that animals must meet organic feed and welfare standards.

For families where EU organic certification is a non-negotiable, Jovie is the clear choice. For families where vegetarian certification matters more (no fish oil in the formula), Kendamil has the edge.

Milk Source & Protein

Milk Source & Protein | The Milky Box

Both formulas use whole/full-fat A2 goat milk as the number one ingredient. Both deliver A2 beta-casein protein, which is naturally easier to digest than the A1 beta-casein found in most conventional cow milk. A2 protein does not produce the inflammatory peptide BCM-7 during digestion, which is why goat milk formula is often the first step families take when their baby shows mild sensitivity to cow milk formula.

Jovie Goat uses organic whole goat milk powder from EU organic-certified farms.

Kendamil Goat  uses non-GMO whole goat milk from Red Tractor-certified UK farms in the Lake District. The milk is full-cream, preserving natural milk fats.

Both formulas also include demineralized goat whey powder, which helps achieve the whey-to-casein ratio that mirrors breast milk in the early stages (60:40 in Stage 1, shifting in later stages).

Both produce smaller, softer curds in the stomach compared to cow milk, both are rich in medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), and both contain naturally occurring oligosaccharides that are structurally similar to human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs).

On the milk itself, these formulas are essentially equal. The difference is in certification and what goes around the milk.

Oils and Fats

Jovie Goat Vs Kendamil Goat: Oil & Fats | The Milky Box

This is another meaningful difference.

Jovie uses only organic sunflower oil and organic rapeseed oil alongside the natural goat milk fats. No palm oil. No coconut oil. The full-fat goat milk base carries more of the fat profile, meaning fewer vegetable oils are needed overall.

Kendamil Goat uses sunflower oil, coconut oil and organic rapeseed oil. Like Jovie, it skips palm oil entirely. But it includes coconut oil — a fat source some parents prefer to avoid due to its high saturated fat content, and which Jovie deliberately excludes.

Neither formula uses palm oil, which is the most significant shared advantage. The calcium absorption and stool issues associated with palm oil in infant formula are avoided in both. The difference is whether coconut oil is included — Jovie skips it, Kendamil uses it.

For more on why oil matters in formula, read our guide to oils in baby formula.

Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates Source | The Milky Box

Good news here: Both Formula use lactose as the only carbohydrate in both. Neither contains corn syrup, corn syrup solids, maltodextrin, or starch.

Lactose is the primary carbohydrate in breast milk, and choosing a formula that mirrors that profile is one of the cleanest decisions you can make. Both Jovie and Kendamil Goat deliver this.

This is one area where the formulas are functionally equal — and both stand apart from most US-market goat formulas that lean on maltodextrin or other supplemental carbohydrates.

For more on carbohydrates in baby formula, see our sugar in baby formula guide.

DHA, AA, and Vegetarian Considerations

Jovie Goat Vs, Kendamil Goat: DHA, AA & vegan Considerations | The Milky Box

Where the formulas truly differ:

Jovie sources both DHA (omega-3) and AA (omega-6, also called ARA) from fish oil. Research suggests that DHA and AA together may produce better cognitive development outcomes than DHA alone — matching the breast milk fatty acid profile. Fish is listed as an allergen on the packaging. Jovie is not vegetarian-certified due to the fish oil.

Kendamil Goat sources DHA from microalgae (Schizochytrium sp.) — a plant-based source. It also includes ARA from Mortierella alpina oil — a fungal source. Both are plant/microbe-derived, which is why Kendamil is Vegetarian Society approved. No fish oil is used anywhere in the Kendamil Goat range.

This is a meaningful choice for families avoiding fish-derived ingredients — whether for vegetarian values, fish allergies, sustainability concerns, or simply preferring a cleaner sourcing chain. Kendamil Goat is one of the few non-vegan formulas on the market with fully plant/microbe-based DHA and ARA.

If you want DHA + AA delivered together (matching breast milk's profile), Jovie includes both — but from fish oil. If you want fully fish-free fatty acid sourcing while still using goat milk as the protein base, Kendamil is the clear choice.

Prebiotics and Gut Health

Jovie Goat Vx. Kendamil Goat Prebiotics and Gut Health | The Milky Box

Both formulas include GOS (galacto-oligosaccharides) prebiotics in every stage. GOS feeds beneficial gut bacteria and supports digestive regularity — particularly important in the first year of life when the gut microbiome is still being established.

Jovie  adds organic GOS prebiotics across all three stages

Kendamil Goat adds GOS prebiotics across all three stages. Kendamil's marketing also emphasizes the naturally occurring HMOs (Human Milk Oligosaccharides) found in goat milk itself — these are not added prebiotics but are naturally present in the milk and provide additional gut support.

Neither formula adds a clinically researched probiotic strain (like HiPP's L. fermentum CECT5716). If clinical probiotic supplementation is important to you, neither Jovie nor Kendamil Goat is the best fit — see our Jovie vs HiPP Goat comparison for an option that includes a probiotic.

For more on probiotics and gut health, read our probiotics for infants guide.

Stages and Packaging

Jovie Goat Vs. Kendamil Goat: Stages And Age Coverage | The Milky Box

Both formulas come in 800g cans across all three stages.

Jovie Goat

Kendamil Goat

The stage timing is slightly different — Jovie's Stage 3 starts at 10+ months, Kendamil's Stage 3 starts at 12+ months. The whey-to-casein ratios also differ slightly between the two brands at each stage. Both transition smoothly from birth through the toddler years.

For guidance on when to transition between stages, see our toddler formula guide.

Taste, Preparation, and Cost

Jovie vs. Kendamil Goat: Taste, Preparations and Cost | The Milky Box

Both formulas have a mild, creamy taste typical of well-made goat milk formulas. Neither has the strong "goaty" flavor parents sometimes worry about. Both dissolve well at the recommended water temperature.

Jovie Goat recommends mixing at approximately 40°C (104°F). The full-fat milk base creates a slightly thinner consistency.

Kendamil Goat uses a similar preparation approach — boil water, cool to appropriate temperature, add powder, shake. The inclusion of coconut oil gives Kendamil a slightly creamier mouthfeel.

Both come with a scoop included. For step-by-step preparation across both brands, visit our formula prep guide.

On cost: per gram, the two are roughly comparable. Specific pricing depends on bundle sizes and current promotions. Both are available through The Milky Box with all-inclusive pricing — import duties, customs paperwork, and tracked shipping are all covered. See our shipping policy for delivery details.
