Nutramigen Infant Formula Recall | The Milky Box

Reckitt/Mead Johnson, a well-known American infant formula producer, is taking precautions by recalling specific batches of Nutramigen powder to ensure the safety of babies. The recall explicitly affects 12.6 oz and 19.8 oz cans of the product, as these batches have been found to contain harmful bacteria that can make infants ill.

In this article, we will delve into the crucial aspects of identifying cans that might be contaminated and provide essential information that will equip you to ensure the safety of your baby's nutrition.

Why Was Nutramigen Recalled?

Reckitt/Mead Johnson Nutrition, a global healthcare company, announced a voluntary recall of 675,030 cans of Nutramigen powdered formula on December 29th. This recall has been initiated as a precautionary measure due to the positive test results for Cronobacter species in some batches of the formula exported from the United States, as reported by the Israeli Ministry of Health.

What’s Causing the Latest Formula Recall?

Cronobacter Sakazakii is a bacterium shaped like a rod and has an adverse reaction to a gram stain test. It belongs to a family of bacteria called Enterobacteriaceae. This microbe can live in environments with or without oxygen.

It is known to be harmful and can cause disease. Cronobacter Sakazakii is naturally found in different places such as soil, water, and plants. However, it prefers dry conditions, like powdered infant formula, where it can grow and multiply.

Nutramigen Alternatives

Providing proper nutrition to infants can be challenging, especially after baby formula recalls in the US. However, European infant nutrition can be a reliable solution.

Every aspect of the European formula is designed considering the infant's development, from sourcing ingredients to manufacturing. The nutrition must be free from harmful pesticides, GMOs, soy, preservatives, non-lactose sugars, or heavy metals, ensuring that it meets the baby's dietary requirements without any toxic or harmful elements.

US Formula Vs. European Formula

Strict regulations and proper oversight are essential to ensure that the formula provides optimal nutritional support to your baby. EU Infant measures to guarantee your baby receives the necessary nutrition without compromising safety and quality.
