Sprout Organic Vegan Formula

Sprout Organic was born out of a gap that co-founders Sel and Jen couldn't ignore. Parents who wanted to feed their babies in line with their plant-based values had no certified option — dairy formulas dominated, soy formulas came with their own concerns, and nothing certified organic and certified vegan existed anywhere in the world.

Working with top pediatric nutritionists and food scientists, they built a formula from the ground up — one that met FSANZ regulatory standards while achieving full ACO organic and Vegan Australia certification. When Sprout Organic Infant Formula launched in June 2021, it became the first of its kind on the planet. The range has since grown to include a Toddler Drink and Essential Shakes, giving families a continuous plant-based nutrition pathway from birth through the toddler years.

Sprout Organic carries ACO certification — one of the most rigorous organic standards in the world and a government-recognised accreditation in Australia. Every ingredient is audited from farm to finished formula, with annual third-party verification.

ACO Certification

• Sprout formulas are produced without synthetic pesticides, genetically modified organisms, hormones, or artificial additives — with every ingredient traceable through a certified organic supply chain.

ACO certification requires that products are made with certified organic ingredients and meet strict conditions at every level of production, from seed suppliers and farmers through to manufacturing. All Sprout formulas also comply with FSANZ standards — Australia's infant formula regulatory framework equivalent in rigour to the EU's directives.

Pea & Rice Protein Blend

Instead of dairy or soy proteins, Sprout uses a complementary blend of organic pea protein and organic brown rice protein. Together, these two plant proteins deliver a complete amino acid profile — every essential amino acid an infant needs for healthy growth and development, with no animal ingredients and no soy.

Dairy-Free, Soy-Free & Palm Oil-Free

Sprout removes the three most common formula concerns in a single product. Dairy proteins drive cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA), one of the most frequent infant food allergies. Soy is itself a top-eight allergen. Palm oil carries environmental concerns and some research suggests it may reduce calcium absorption in infants. Sprout eliminates all three.

Organic Plant Oils

A carefully balanced blend of certified-organic plant oils — including sunflower, rapeseed, and coconut oils — provides the essential fatty acids needed for brain development, cell structure, and energy. Approximately 50% of an infant's caloric intake should come from fat; Sprout's plant oil blend is proportioned to hit the right balance for each stage.

Algal DHA

Most formulas source DHA from fish oil. Sprout uses algal DHA — derived from microalgae, the original marine source of DHA — making it 100% plant-sourced and appropriate for vegan families. DHA is critical for brain function and vision development in infants and toddlers.

Organic Rice Starch (Not Corn Syrup Solids)

For carbohydrates, Sprout uses organic rice starch — not corn syrup solids or maltodextrin, which are common in US conventional formulas and add processed sugars with limited nutritional benefit. Rice starch supports steady energy and gentler digestion.
